Looking for Mangrove Snapper and Seatrout

Mangrove Snapper and Seatrout

Frank and his wife Sharon love to catch fish. We started the day at the bait patch. While we all were catching bait the discussion turned to where we would go to find the catching rather than just the fishing. As many areas started to cross my mind I decided to travel to a spot I had fished before half way from Flamingo to the The Florida Keys.

We went through the islands crossing Florida Bay. We had the well full of bait and I started to bring the power pole up. Frank hooked up and brought in a nice keeper mangrove snapper. Without leaving the bait patch, Frank, Sharon and I caught our limit of keeper snappers. Needless to say, we stayed near the Flamingo marina and finished the day with keeper seatrout. We reached the boat dock tired and very happy.

Where’s My Chumbag??

Where’s My Chumbag

Where’s My Chumbag??- We set the chumbag out for the live bait we were planning to catch for the day. After a short while the bait came into the chum slick we created. After catching some Pin Fish with a bait pole I readied the castnet in order to speed up the bait catching process. The bait disappeared – I wondered what had happened. All of a sudden a ten foot Bull Shark came swimming by our boat. He had our chumbag in his mouth! I am sure that he had the whole school of bait chasing right behind…
